The UCY Student Deacons are leaders and servants of our church. The UCY Student Deacons at the Yale church date back to the 1920’s, when becoming a deacon was senior honor. Today, the student deacons are both undergrad and grad students. Deacons gather every other week for fellowship, study, and food. We also get away from campus for fall and winter retreats, hikes, apple picking, and other activities. Deacons also have the opportunity to help lead worship by reading scripture, serving communion, sharing reflections, and more.
Student Deacons are selected through a process of prayer and discernment each Fall Semester and serve renewable one-year terms from January-January.
